MOUNT SNOWDON, WALES
Recently my friends and I travelled to Wales to climb Mount Snowdon for charity. After months of training and buying (expensive!) equipment, we hit the summit at around midday and it was incredible. The whole climb was such an amazing and rewarding experience, and I am still in a bit of shock that we actually did it!
The climb, for me, although a challenge in itself, was difficult for a number of reasons. My friend had badly injured her foot prior, and there was a point where we didn't think she'd be able to climb. The spirit and bravery she showed, in the face of so much pain, was incredible. Each of us had a special reason for being there, and climbing Snowdon for Cancer Research and in memory of my father was extremely important to me. As well as the great sense of accomplishment I felt as I descended the mountain, I was left with a huge sense of appreciation and respect; appreciation for my amazing friends, who amaze and inspire and encourage me everyday, and respect for those who show perseverance in the face of defeat.
It may not have been Everest exactly, but at times it felt like an impossible feat.
I'm proud of myself and my friends.
Diolch i chi, Cymru!
